Areas We Cover

Based at Lyford Business Centre near Wantage, working across the Vale of White Horse and the towns around it.

Our office is at Unit 17 Cobweb Building, Lyford Business Centre, Lyford, Wantage, Oxfordshire, OX12 0EE. Lyford is a small village a few miles north of Wantage, so we are well placed for the Vale of White Horse and have reasonable runs to Oxford, Swindon and Newbury. In general we work within about 35 miles of the office.

For smaller domestic jobs we tend to stay closer to Wantage, so we can come back quickly if needed. Commercial and project work takes us further. The travel times below are rough guides from Lyford, not promises, as traffic on the A34 and A420 can vary a lot.

Wantage

Our nearest town, a few miles south of Lyford. Wantage mixes a historic market-town centre of older terraces and townhouses with large newer estates on its edges, plus business units on the town's industrial estates. Older properties here are where we most often find dated consumer units and wiring that has been extended many times.

Grove

Just north of Wantage and the closest large village to our office. Grove has grown a great deal, with a lot of modern housing alongside older village homes, and a number of business and technology parks nearby. Newer homes tend to need additions like outdoor sockets and lighting rather than rewires.

Faringdon

To the west, roughly a twenty-minute drive across the Vale. A small market town with a stone-built centre and growing new developments around it. Period cottages in and around Faringdon can need careful work to route new cables without spoiling old walls.

Abingdon

North-east of us, about a twenty-minute drive. One of the larger towns we cover, with everything from medieval centre buildings and Victorian terraces to post-war estates and modern business parks. A good mix of domestic and commercial work.

Didcot

East of Wantage, about fifteen to twenty minutes away. Didcot has grown quickly, with large new housing areas and employment and science campuses on its outskirts. Lots of office and unit work here, alongside newer homes.

Oxford

Around half an hour north-east, depending on traffic. Oxford's housing ranges widely, with Victorian and Edwardian terraces, much of it let to tenants, plus offices and commercial buildings across the city and its ring-road business parks. Landlord EICRs are a regular request.

Witney

North of the Vale, typically around half an hour away. A busy West Oxfordshire market town with a mix of older stone houses, large modern estates and industrial estates on its edges.

Swindon

To the south-west, usually half an hour or a little more. A large town with a lot of warehousing, distribution and industrial premises, which is mainly where our Swindon work comes from, alongside housing of every age.

Wallingford

About 15 miles east, usually via Didcot. A Thames-side market town with an old centre inside a conservation area and commercial units along Hithercroft Road.

Carterton

About 20 miles north-west, beside RAF Brize Norton. A largely 20th-century town, much of it built from the 1960s onwards, so consumer unit upgrades and EICRs are typical requests.

Reading

About 25 miles south-east via the A34 and M4. Berkshire's county town, with a high share of flats and rented homes, Victorian terraces and M4-corridor offices.

Henley-on-Thames

About 30 miles south-east on the Thames. A riverside town of period homes, larger houses with outbuildings, and independent shops.

Newbury

South, across the Berkshire Downs, generally around forty minutes. A market town with a strong commercial side, business parks and a mix of period and modern housing. Mostly commercial and project work for us.
