Commercial Electrical Contractors
Power, lighting and distribution for offices, warehouses and business units, installed by a team that has done commercial and project work since 2014.
Commercial work is the core of Adtec Electrical. For more than a decade we have wired, altered and maintained installations in offices, warehouses, workshops and units on business parks around Wantage, Didcot, Abingdon, Oxford and Swindon. Whether you are a facilities manager with a list of changes, a business owner moving into a new unit, or a landlord preparing a building for a tenant, we can take the job from survey to certificate.
The buildings we work in
Most of our commercial jobs fall into three groups. Offices, from a single floor above a shop to a self-contained building, where the work is usually small power, lighting, data cabling and patch panels. Warehouses and industrial units, where it tends to be high-bay lighting, three-phase supplies and sub-mains to machinery or mezzanines. And mixed units on business parks with a trade counter at the front and storage behind, which need a bit of both.
Each has its own page with more detail: office electrical installations and warehouse and small industrial work.

What we install and alter
- New installations for fit-outs, change of use or a unit stripped back to the shell.
- Alterations and additions: moving desks, adding circuits, splitting one space into two.
- Lighting, including LED replacements for tired fluorescent fittings, emergency lighting and external lighting.
- Distribution boards: new boards, replacements for outdated ones, and sub-mains to feed new areas.
- Containment: trunking, conduit, cable tray and basket that keep cables organised, protected and easy to add to.
- Periodic inspection and testing of existing installations, with a written condition report.
Working around an occupied building
Few clients can empty a building for the electricians. We plan around that. Before we start we agree which circuits can be isolated and when, so a server, a fridge of stock or a production line is not switched off by surprise. Noisy or dusty tasks, like chasing or drilling through blockwork, can be grouped together, and walkways and exits stay clear throughout.
If your operation genuinely cannot lose power during the working day, raise it when we quote. Some tasks can be moved, and we will tell you plainly what is and is not possible rather than promise something that falls apart on site.
Paperwork you can rely on
At the end of every installation or alteration we inspect and test the work and issue the matching certificate under BS 7671, the UK wiring regulations. For a building you manage, those certificates join the condition reports and drawings that insurers, landlords and future contractors will ask for. If yours are missing or out of date, our commercial testing service can bring them up to date.
Projects for builders
A large share of our commercial work comes through main contractors and developers, often the same firms over many years. If you are a builder looking for an electrical subcontractor on a new build, extension or refurbishment, see our page for builders and developers.
Getting a price
Send us a short description of the building and the work, ideally with photos or drawings. For anything beyond a simple addition we will arrange a site visit, then send a written quote setting out the scope. Commercial enquiries are welcome from anywhere within about 35 miles of Wantage.
