Data Cabling & Patch Panels
Network cabling installed, terminated and labelled, with the containment and power planned at the same time.
In Adam's own words: "we do all the cabling and patch panels, leaving the equipment to be installed by a dedicated IT team, which we can sub contract out if needed." That is the service in one sentence. Adtec Electrical installs the physical network: the cables, the outlets, the containment they run in and the patch panel they finish at. Your IT people then connect switches, routers, access points and computers to a tidy, documented installation.
Planning outlet positions with the power
The best time to plan data is at the same moment you plan sockets. A desk usually needs both, and so do printers, screens on meeting room walls, card terminals, cameras and access control readers. We work from your furniture layout, or walk the space with you, and mark where each outlet goes. Getting this right first time is much cheaper than adding points once the ceiling is closed and the carpet is down.
We also keep data and mains cabling apart. Running them in separate compartments or routes avoids interference and keeps the installation in line with good practice for structured cabling.
Containment: trunking, floor boxes and basket
Network cables need a protected route. In offices that might be compartment trunking around the walls, floor boxes in a raised floor, or wire cable basket above a suspended ceiling with drops to each desk. In shops and units it is often conduit or trunking down a column to a till point. We size containment with spare room, because almost every business adds points later.

Cabinets, patch panels and cabinet power
Every run finishes at a patch panel, usually in a wall-mounted or floor-standing comms cabinet. We install and terminate the panels and provide dedicated power for the cabinet so the network equipment isn't sharing a circuit with the kettle. Where there is a server or a lot of equipment, we will talk to your IT supplier about how many outlets the cabinet needs.
Labelling and testing the runs
Each cable is labelled at both ends with a matching number, and the panel ports follow the same scheme. Once terminated, the runs are tested so faults are found before the IT team arrives rather than on the day the office opens. You receive the results with a schedule showing which outlet goes to which port.
Working alongside the IT installer
Because we stop at the patch panel, the hand-off has to be clean. We agree with your IT company where the cabinet goes, how many points they expect and when they need access. If you don't have an IT team, we can subcontract one, so you deal with a single contact from first cable to working network.
Offices, shops and commercial units
Moves, extensions and tidying up old cabling
Not every job is a blank floor. Many offices have years of cabling added piecemeal: unlabelled runs, patch leads tangled in a cupboard and outlets nobody can trace. We can survey what is there, remove redundant cable, re-terminate into a new panel and produce a schedule that finally matches reality. When a business takes on the unit next door or adds a mezzanine, we extend the network from the existing cabinet or plan a second one, linked back, so the installation stays orderly as the business grows.
Most data cabling we install is part of a wider job: an office fit-out, a shop fit-out or a unit being prepared for a new tenant. Combining the power, lighting and data on one programme saves time on site. We work Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm, from Lyford near Wantage. See the areas we cover, or call 01235 430442 to talk through your layout.
