Data Cabling in Oxford
Network cabling and patch panels for offices and shops in Oxford, with the IT equipment then installed by your IT team.
What we do, and what your IT team does
Adtec carry out all the data cabling and patch panels, leaving the equipment to be installed by a dedicated IT team, which we can subcontract if needed. In practice that means we plan the routes, install the containment, pull and terminate the cables at outlets and at the patch panel, then test and label every run. Your IT team then fits the switches, wireless access points and other hardware.
Typical installations use Cat6 cable, with each outlet run back individually to a patch panel in a comms cabinet or wall-mounted frame. We size the cabinet with room for growth, so adding desks later doesn't mean starting again.
Older buildings and tight routes
Many Oxford offices and shops occupy buildings that were never designed for modern networks. Solid walls, narrow stairwells, shallow ceiling voids and shared risers leave little room for cable. We survey first to find routes that will work: existing ducts and voids, under floors, or neat surface trunking where nothing else is possible.
A lot of central Oxford is inside conservation areas, and some buildings are listed. Where that applies, we keep visible containment to a minimum and agree positions with you before starting, so whoever manages consents for the building can be consulted.

Office moves and refits
Tenants in Oxford often move floors or buildings, and a refit is the best time to tidy up cabling. We can strip out redundant cable, install fresh runs to a new patch panel, and re-label everything so the layout is clear. If the comms cabinet is moving, we coordinate the changeover with your IT team to keep downtime short.
Shops and small premises
For shops and cafés we typically install data for tills, card terminals, CCTV and a wireless access point, alongside the lighting and power for the fit-out. The work is planned around the shopfitter's programme and opening date.
